- To begin with I’d suggest a “real” artist to paint a extremely photorealistic painting of a banana taped to a wall.
- Secondly, Don’t be stupid! The banana was not sold for $6.2M! the big price tag was for a placeholder in history, something so stupid that would reserve you a spot in the art and history books, hence the “art-work” on its own was not the complete piece, but the transaction, the stupidly grand price paid for it is — not only- a part of the art-work, but the most important part of it! in fact the bigger the price, the more impressive the work. And it doesn’t end there, here, although, the “artist” himself is not a part of the art-work, but the buyer IS, the “idiot” who buys it and the price he pays is the real master-piece, the banana and the tape are just the gesso, applied to prepare the canvas, and of course, it’s the experiment that remains, and the banana will rote.
- But why anyone would volunteer to be the idiot ( and not to play the role, but to become the role )? the answer is “meaning”, “fame”, “achievement”. you get to “BE” in contrast to “NOT BE”, doesn’t matter what, but you’ll “BE” something, be an idiot, or anything else, until someone else, depressed by…
